$50 Mil for GTA IV Exclusive Episodic Content
With a rerun of the The Simpsons on I hit the net for a bit and this came up. According to an earnings call with Take Two CFO Laine Goldstein, Microsoft spent $50 million to get downloadable content exclusively on the Xbox 360.
The first set of episodic content for GTA IV should be released March 2008.
“The first 25 million is for the first episodic content package that ‘s supposed to go out and that is in March of ’08,” Take Two CFO Laine Goldstein is reported to have said. “That’s why it moved into current because it’s in the next 12 months. The second 25 will be for the second episodic, the episode, and that will be later in fiscal ’08.”
That is a ton of money and this goes to show how deep the pockets of Microsoft really are. I hope this content is worthwhile and you know their going to charge for this seeing how much they spent on this.
This is the gaming industry today. Toss $50 mil and you get exclusive content. Microsoft is buying everything up. Is this good or bad?
