The tabletop strategy game turned XBL Arcade hit Catan gets more DLC. But is it what the fans want?
Details inside.
Here’s the news:
Name: Catan - Generals Expansion Pack 1
Price: 200 Points
Availability: Not available in Hong Kong or Taiwan
Dash Details: Test your skills playing against historical personalities including Joan of Arc, Hannibal, Tokugawa and more!!! Download it now!
Some fans are all about this content - more than likely the Silver members of Xbox Live. If you have a Gold membership, what are the chances that you’ll want to download Generals when you can challenge people? On top of that, the title says Expansion Pack 1 which points toward more expansions coming down the pipeline, and that doesn’t sit well with me. It’s not just the fact that the pack is one fourth of the game’s price - although that bothers me as well.
Half of XBLA’s appeal to gamers is the cheap price. If this was the entire AI pack they plan on selling, that’d be okay. Even if they plan on releasing another expansion pack when the 6-player expansion comes out, that’d be fine. But to make it known that there are more planned simply by the naming structure is slightly bothering…
Catan rocks, but I’ve been duped by it’s DLC once already with the Mayfair Skin Pack. I’m not in a rush to do it again.
