man…i came across your blog here while searching for the song credits to GH2, and i have to say…as an xbox360 owner, i completely agree with you. I feel that 3 songs….costing more than $2 a piece alone is enough to make someone not want any of the benefits of the marketplace. the same thing happened to me in crackdown, when i found out the “awesome new content download” cost a pretty penny itself…it contained? STUFF that should have been in the game at launch!@! thanks for making us wait….AND pay for it, micro$oft.

Thanks, just my humble opinion… but I am just so old school I feel that I work hard for my money and when I pay for something I should get all I paid for. Like DF said they had this content just sitting there all boxed up and ready to roll coullda put in in the game package but instead they try to bilk us. This is the “problem” with the industry, it is based on selling things to people with little or no impulse control, It just seems unfortunate that but the time many of us have grown up enough to demand value for our money we no longer game, or are so in the minority that we no longer matter.

Great post, I have to say that. Summabiatch is a word I’m using everyday but I do agree with your statement. I would be nice to actually get wait you paid for. Especially in this case, these prices are too high.

I think free content is the way to go, I’m sure most will agree but companies have to make money and right now the Marketplace is turning into a great way to milk more people’s money.

Being an old dude, of the era that I paid 20.00 for my pong sytem and I could play as long as I wanted. I am of the opinion that you buy a game you should get the whole damned thing! This is like selling you part of a game, and holding the rest hostage. Summabiatch!!! This is wrong>>>$90.00 smackers for a game, then keep on forkin out your dollars so you can play??

How would we have felt if we bought Zelda for our Nintendo and got only three levels? Then had to pay for the rest of the game?

I am always one to disagree with Marketplace. It has been abused by the developer from the start. If they had these songs so quickly that means they could have included them in the game but chose to make money instead.

I cannot agree more regarding the entire post. From a business perspective, I know why the pricing is high. One of these days Corporate will listen to the one Gamer in the meetings that knows what he is talking about. To think they could make so much more money with the gamers downloading all the tracks, not selecting what ones they want the most, or can afford.

I am STILL waiting for an official word from M$.

That is awesome that they have already released those song packs! I could honestly care less about pictures and themes. Maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t deem it a necessity to buy pictures and themes? I don’t know. It’s awesome they brought some of the older popular songs from it’s older rockers, but being that I have Guitar Hero I and II on the PS2 this still means nothing to me. I haven’t purchased GHII on the 360 yet either. Once more Xbox only songs are available for download I will go up to EB and lay down $70, but in the meantime I’m more than content with my PS2 version(s).

Again, like I said in the article – I completely understand the business aspect of why these tracks cost what they do.

I’m just pointing out that they could likely gain more income by pricing them cheaper and selling more packs. The current price point isn’t exactly inviting…

When you say you are paying for something thats been out for a year or w/e ever already, you are forgetting that these songs are covers, there for the developer must pay the artists again for use of the songs. that and all the work going into them. Being able to play on hard, easy, medium, expert. in Electric guitar bass guitar. NOT to mention the songs werent on the XBOX so its not even a matter of just changing the code it was exclusively a Ps2 game. So they had to redo everything for the 360 so its really not like its been out for a year.

thats where the price is coming from i figure. overall nice article i enjoyed reading it keep up the good work you did bring up some good points in there about how much it will cost over time.

That being said. I wont download any of these lol
