Xbox 360 Keyboard/Controller combo sighted
In another news leak, we find pictures of the Xbox 360 Keyboard/Controller combo.
That two year old rumor that the Xbox 360 was to get a qwerty keyboard attachment has been resurrected, with the appearance of another Gamespot article leak? referring to a 47 key keyboard which snaps onto the Xbox 360 controller and communicates through the headset jack. Gamespot says that the peripheral is to be used in conjunction with the cross-platform instant messaging capabilities to be added to the Spring dashboard update. Apparently itll be available in the Summer for an as yet unnamed price. Bring on the tired thumbs.
Gamespot seems to either have it out for Microsoft’s jugular or they’re just trying to help, but this is the second major Xbox 360 leak within a week.
Could this recent rash of leaks start Microsoft on a trend of silence until products are ready for release? I wouldn’t find myself surprised if it did, although the reaction to the keyboard controller is considerably less “anger-inducing” than the Xbox 360 Elite leak.
I can’t say that I’d really need one of these controllers, although it intrigues me very highly. Having a cheap $8 USB keyboard removes the need to get another, but the possibilities here are endless! Picture developers supporting the keyboard now, allowing for much more in-depth control schemes and macros. Not to mention how much easier it would be to send messages over Xbox Live!
Seems like a winner to me! I’ll pick one up when it releases this summer (hopefully) – for “research” purposes, of course – and I’ll let you know how it works out. For now, here are a couple images of the amazing controller:
