Xbox 360 Elite official
Microsoft has finally announced even though its been leaked for a while now that the Xbox 360 Elite is coming. This black Xbox 360 will feature a HDMI port and sport a 120 GB hard drive that will cost $479.99.
If you just want a 120 GB hard drive your going to have to pay $179.99. The hard drive will come with a transfer cable and software so that you can transfer your stuff from your current 20 GB hard drive.
Microsoft also said that Elite is not a limited edition and that it will sell along with the core and standard Xbox 360. As of right now, nothing has been said when Japan or Europe will get the Elite. This only applies to the U.S. right now.
My opinion about the Elite edition is mixed. For those who hasn’t purchased a Xbox 360 already probably will find this appealing. Everybody seems to like Black and the extra hard drive space is great considering with what the Marketplace has to offer. But at the same time it almost a slap in the face to early adopters since you kind of have an outdated Xbox 360 and I feel that $179.99 is way to much for a hard drive.
I don’t know if this is a smart move for Microsoft or not. Considering that this price doesn’t include a HD-DVD drive and is only $20 less then the low-end PS3 with a Blu-Ray player, it seems like a rip off depending on your point of view. Giving gamers an option isn’t bad if you don’t have a high definition t.v or if the HD-DVD format fails in the long-run.
How many of you plan to buy the Elite version or the 120 GB hard drive? Tell GAMINGtruth your opinions.
