The Devil May Cry for us all
It’s official. Devil May Cry 4 will be seeing a release for the Xbox 360 and PC. Originally a exclusive for the PS3, Devil May Cry 4 for the Xbox 360 will be released simultaneously with PS3 version when it is released.
“Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible, and has been building its technology base to meet that goal,” said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe. “This announcement means that PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners worldwide will be able to experience the latest installment of one of Capcom’s pillar franchises.” Capcom also stated that each version of the game will be maximized to take advantage of the systems’ strengths.
I know alot of fanboys are screaming right now but its okay, Devil May Cry 4 is still coming out if you own a PS3. This isn’t really a surprise, Capcom did the same thing with the Gamecube when they ported over Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 and added more content. Graphics weren’t the same but the gameplay was and people who didn’t own a Gamecube was able to enjoy a really great game.
I see nothing wrong with a company wanting to ensure every gamer gets a chance to play their games. I admit this may hurt Sony’s sales a bit and you do need exclusives to help drive a system. But for today, gamers win since they have a platform of choice to choose from when Devil May Cry 4 drops.
