God of War heading to the PS3
God of War has a bright future. God of War 2 is out today and let me say that this game is awesome but I’m sure you already knew that. I was reading a liveblog today and Cory Barlog (director of God of War 2) pretty much confirmed that God of War 3 will be in 1080p with SIXAXIS and Vibration functions on PS3. This is not technically official but I’m pretty sure that it’s most likely true.
Also they are exploring co-op play for the next God of War if they can get it right. Barlog said, “I’m thinking how can we incorporate this without damaging what happens in the game — without having it feel silly — where it’s just like ‘we threw two Kratoses in there and now you can run around through the world.’ It’s gotta be something more than that. It’s gotta have a true purpose, kinda like Four Swords. I don’t want to necessarily make a game like Four Swords, but how it really had a meaning to how people play it.”
Barlog also said they want to have support for something to be done online. “We do want to have support for the network platform — I think it’s huge. And I’m looking at a lot of stuff right now that if I do end up doing anything with 3, I want to utilize that. [I’m thinking] ‘what else is there? How can you explore creating more of a community with players?”
Just to reiterate the point that this is not technically official that God of War 3 is heading to the PS3. Sony would be stupid not to finish the trilogy and seeing the install base of PS2 and God of War 2 probably being the last big game to hit the system, Kratos will most likely continue his adventure on the PS3. Pick up God of War 2 now if you haven’t and hope even though much not be needed that God of War 3 is PS3 bound.
