Capcom Licenses Epic’s Unreal 3 Engine

Since Gears of War hit the market and showcased the power of the Unreal Engine, developers the world over have been licensing the uber-engine from Epic Games.

Consider Capcom the latest member of the club.

Add Capcom to the ever-growing list of publishers ponying up to put Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 in upcoming projects. The Japanese publisher today announced that it has licensed the development toolset for an unannounced project being developed in North America.

I’m pretty happy for Epic right now. They came out with the highest selling IP for the Xbox 360 so far, the engine they created is one of the most capable and can be used for games both large and small in scope, has been licensed by just about every major developer in the industry, and even more developers are interested in their wares. That’s no small feat.

Then, to make things even better, they have another highly anticipated title on the way in Unreal Tournament 3. It must be really good to be Epic right now!
