Sony Pictures to make Metal Gear flick
If ever there’s a game series that should’ve been made into movies, it’s the Metal Gear Solid series. Fortunately enough, most gamers would rather play out their Solid Snake adventures.
Consider those days done. Sony Pictures have announced that they’re working on a Metal Gear movie.
“I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement,” Kojima said in a statement. “False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood.”For eight months, the identity of the aforementioned “party” was unknown. That changed this week, when Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chairman Yair Landau revealed his studio is developing the project.
While the Metal Gear series have been known for their cinematics, a live-action movie could be very well done given a good script and cast. The worst thing that could come from this movie is extra funding from Sony to keep Metal Gear PS3 exclusive – and since Konami hasn’t announced anything concrete about shipping MGS 4 to the 360, they wouldn’t be going back on their word or anything.
Any suggestions for Solid Snake? A good portion of people at Evil Avatar seem to vote Christian Bale. He pulled off an awesome Batman – what do you think?
