Gears of War up for Game of the Year

Xbox 360’s Gears Of War will be up against Nintendo Wii’s The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, Guitar Hero II, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for Overall Game Of The Year in The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Interactive Achievement Awards.

Gears Of War, a huge commercial hit, garnered nominations in categories including animation, art direction, voice acting, online gameplay, graphics, action game of the year, console game of the year and overall game of the year.

“The discussion and debate among the panel concerning the nuances of each genre/award category reflects the commitment of the Academy’s peer panelists to critically evaluate each other’s work and to recognize great achievement,” said Joseph Olin, president, AIAS. “The Interactive Achievement Awards is dedicated to acknowledging the people who create these innovative and excellent games.

There can’t be much more said about how good this game is. I can only say that if you have a Xbox 360, buy it now and don’t forget to read the tips we have for noobs on this site. It will save your life or at least a chainsaw or two.
