Research study says PS3 to lead all consoles

A Dublin based market research firm says that by 2010 the PlayStation 3 will have a 75 million install base worldwide outdoing the 360 and the Wii. Although the launch of the PS3 hasn’t been that great, Research and Markets say that Sony can still hold its own.

In an abstract of the study, “The Transforming Global Video Games Market: The Emergence of Next Generation Gaming,” the research firm says that the PS3 will enjoy an install base of 75 million consoles worldwide by 2010, outdoing the Xbox 360 and Wii.

Still, Research and Markets doesn’t expect the PS3 to thrash the competition as badly as the PS2 did to its rivals “due to late launch issues in the PAL region and the early lead of Microsofts Xbox 360.”

Researchers are always saying something. When you think about 2010 isn’t that far off, the PS3 has alot of potential just like the Xbox 360 and the Wii has. Im still skeptical of the Wii and I say that Nintendo will probably finish last again but right now it’s up for grabs. As long as each console delivers hit games, we win not the companies.

Sounds entirely logical to me: Sony will take a hit and the competition will ride increased success.
