Xbox Live Down?

Apparently, loads of gamers are having problems connecting to Xbox Live. Fortunately, this should only be for the night.
Xbox Support states the following as the status message:

Status:
Up and running.

Xbox Live is currently experiencing issues with Matchmaking. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and Thank You for your patience.

2Old2Play says that this problem should only be for the night:

After 30 minutes of waiting on hold with customer service, we were told that the outage would continue until tomorrow morning.

Personally, I’d chalk this Matchmaking downtime up to the large amount of gamers jumping on to Xbox Live and downloading large quantities of demos and trailers with their freshly unwrapped Christmas presents. Not to mention the amount of people that hit the Matchmaking scene after practicing for a bit. That would surely explain the downtime merely a couple days after Christmas..

Any way it goes, single player games should still work and the outage should only be for the night. Here’s hoping to see some of you on Live tomorrow.
