Gears of War to get Free Content

In an interview with some Epic employees (presumably, Cliffy B was involved), it was let slide that there will be free content for Gears of War…

While talking with the Epic guys they spilled the beans on some new downloadable content for Gears of War. Unfortunately, the didn’t talk details. They just said that Epic is known for supporting their games and that they had started working on something for Gears long before it launched. They did say whatever it is it would be free.

To some, this isn’t much of a surprise. Epic is widely known for supporting their games with loads of free content after release, as anyone who owns Unreal Tournament 2004 can attest to. The thing that is surprising is the fact that, if true, they’re looking away from microtransactions – something that you don’t see very often on Xbox Live Marketplace.

We all know how bad it can be when developers milk microtransactions for every penny they can, but to see one shying away from the concept altogether? That’s what keeps a faithful following. Noone having to worry about whether or not they have enough points for the next map pack or skins. Let’s hope this carries over to themes and gamerpics, because as “The King” proves, gamers love the “Free”.

  2. You can use the hosts file to ‘override’ dns server results. If you want anyone who uses your machine to get google when they try to go to, you can out an entry in your hosts file in the format, and that hostname will go to the IP you assign. It can also be used for devices that are not in a dns server anywhere, if you have local machines on your network that you want to access by name instead of IP.

  3. I was looking for some information & found the blog. I just loved it. Keep up the good work.

Aw, it was a quality info. Theoretically I’d like to write this way too – taking some time and substantial effort to create a first-rate piece of writing… but what could I say… I put things off a whole lot and not seem to get things carried out…
