It’s not every day that a gamer gets to visit and tour development studios - let alone a developer that they like. While it may come as a surprise to some people that I like soccer, I’ve enjoyed 2006 Fifa World Cup on the Xbox 360 for a number of months. Luckily, having played both FWC and the Fifa 07 demo, I was prepared - or so I thought - to meet the team behind the game.

Day One

Waking up at 6:30, I finished packing - really, who’s ever ready on time? - and hit the airport to catch the first of two flights. The first was the shorter of the two, and had me in Chicago by eleven, and the second flight arrived in Vancouver, BC at 4pm. Trying to keep from getting lost after I went through the customs check, I ran into a couple of other attendees - Kyle [GameFreaks365] and Rich [XboxSolution] and we made our way back to the hotel. As expected, within an hour of being checked in the DS’ were out and MarioKart was the multiplayer highlight until dinner.

We had dinner at a restaurant called Earl’s and met a couple members of the Fifa dev team. Afterwards, Daylon [Unscripted360] , Mike [Xbox365], and myself found ourselves laughing and cracking jokes until just after midnight. Oh, and Daylon? The Pillow Group just happens to be the group of pillows that adorn the head of my bed. My meetings with them are on a daily basis, and tend to last at least four hours ;).
